Anthropologist from the Universidad Central de Venezuela (1964), she holds a PhD cum laude in History and Geography from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (1976). Scientific collaborator of the Smithsonian Institution. And the first woman to obtain the National Culture Award, mention in Humanities (2008).
